Wills

  • It is a good idea to keep your original Will in a Safety Deposit Box at your Bank.
  • If you wish to change your Will in any way, see your lawyer.
  • As your property changes, consult your lawyer regarding changes to your Will.
  • If you marry (or re-marry), your Will may be automatically non-effective, so discuss the matter with your lawyer.
  • Some of the events requiring you to see your lawyer to discuss your Will are:
    • Someone mentioned in your Will dies.
    • Your Executor or Trustee is unable to act, perhaps because of illness.
    • Change of your name or anyone mentioned in your Will.
    • You become divorced.
    • Adoption of children by yourself or a beneficiary.
    • Specifically bequeathed property in your Will is sold or changes its nature.
